The Primary School Affiliated to Tsinghua University is located on the campus of Tsinghua University, a famous institution of higher learning in the country. The attached primary school is composed of twelve landscapes, including the Summer of Water and Woods and the Lilac Book Garden. It is a garden-style school with lush trees, birds singing and fragrant flowers.
The predecessor of Tsinghua Elementary School was "Chengzhi School". Founded in 1915, it is specially designed for the education of children of Tsinghua faculty and staff. Famous professors from Tsinghua University such as Feng Youlan, Zhu Ziqing, Ye Qisun, Ma John, and Pan Guangdan have all been appointed to the school board of directors at Chengzhi School. Dr. Chen Ning Yang, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, studied here.
